Every Bunkers standard bed is made to bunk bed strength, which means it shrugs off the jumping, the climbing and the years of being treated as a trampoline, a fort and occasionally a bed. It's the same construction that has to hold a second bed safely in the air, applied to one that sits on the floor.

Good to know

  • King Single variants are shown in Single size and Queen variants in Double size in product images.

  • Add a mattress and save: mattresses are bought separately, but adding one to your bed order qualifies the whole order for free metro delivery — and unless the mattress is already on sale, it's discounted too. Sorting it all in one go costs less than coming back for it later.

How it's built

We've used the same construction technique for over 40 years, and you'll find the same strength in a Single Standard Bed as you will in a Queen Loft Bed. The timber is natural, renewable Radiata Pine — the same species holding up the majority of houses across Australia — finished with stain or paint that stands up to everyday life in a kid's room. Slat bases are built from plywood for its reliable weight-bearing properties: 140 x 18mm slats on Single and King Single, and heftier 70 x 34mm slats on Double and Queen. They're left as raw timber so your mattress can breathe.

White Finish
A Bunkers product finished in our White finish still has the same solid timber construction underneath. The natural characteristics of your solid pine product can be visible through the paint finish. This includes timber grain, knots and imperfections. Tannins contained within knots may cause a visual yellowing effect through the paint surface over time.

All Bunkers products are designed to assemble in your home. Assembling our products can take a little longer, but that's because we make them stronger!

  • The entire process of selecting, buying, receiving and then building a set of double over double bunk beds could not have been easier or more pleasant. We wanted to change the colour of the beds after purchase and with a single email this was resolved.

    When were were selecting mattresses from a store, I e-mail Bunkers to see what their recommended height was for the mattresses was for the top bunk. I got an email back with an answer from Kirsty within 5 minutes while we were still at the store with an answer.

    I usually get frustrated at putting together furniture but assembly was really simple easy to understand and with very well made materials. I had a question as there aren’t pre drilled holes in some part and I wanted to double check. Again with a quick call, Kirsty again answered all my questions with valid reasons as to why the holes aren’t pre drilled.

    My boys are very excited to sleep in their new beds and I’m very grateful for how easy this whole process was from start to finish due to great service and a top product.

Bunkers cabinet range is constructed with the same objectives of strength, appearance and functionality.
Our cabinets live very different lives to our Bunk Beds and our material choices reflect this to ensure each item is purpose built to serve you best!

All cabinet bodies are constructed with 16mm furniture grade particleboard that we cover with tough durable custom made melamine to match in with your Bunk Bed.

Drawer boxes are built to last using the same 16mm furniture grade particleboard + melamine that you'll find in your main cabinet body.
Drawer Fronts are 19mm Plywood with stain/paint finishes to match your Bunk Bed - in looks and strength!
Thick 5mm MDF is used across our drawer box bases and cabinet backs - *deep drawer units are also supported with extra base bracing.

Our incredibly deep drawers run smoothly on our steel drawer tracks and reliable nylon wheels.

Desktops are built to last with 19mm Plywood plus our Melamine Coating for a great durable study surface.
